Game 1 was an awful NBA Finals experience, unless you’re a Lakers fan.
Not that I’m really impartial to either team, but more importantly, I want a great series. Watching the Lakers win Game 1 by 25 points is definitely not exciting basketball.
I was supposed to make my predictions before the game and series began, but I didn’t make it to the computer in time. So here we are, one game into the series and I am going to make my prediction on the series, a bold move on my part. Watching one game play out shouldn’t affect my decision too much, even though it was a complete romp of the Magic.
The Orlando Magic have had an incredible season, but it’s far from over.
Thursday the NBA Finals will begin, and in an unlikely matchup, the Magic will face the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have the best player in the NBA on their team, along with Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and a cast of great role players.
The Magic aren’t too shabby themselves, boasting two 6-foot-10 shooters who can spread the floor, one of which plays like a point guard. They also have Dwight Howard, who is only adding to his resume to become the league’s premiere big man. Not to mention they might be getting back their all-star point guard who hasn’t played since February.
Nike and Vitmain Water did not spare us from the the LeBron vs. Kobe hype over the past month and a half. Unfortunately for them, the NBA and Cleveland, LeBron James will not be in the NBA Finals.
We’ve seen all the LeBron and Kobe puppet ads on TV over and over, including the one where LBJ and KB24 have to babysit Lil Dez. In the following parody, it appears that Lil Dez has now found out that the Magic sent LeBron and the Cavs home early.
There is no excuse, the NBA Finals begin in only two days and I haven’t been updating readers the way they have been accustomed to. I apologize for that, but don’t worry, cause I should be more consistent now.
I may have just went into shock after Orlando won that first game against Cleveland, and then the way they practically dominated the Cavaliers in that Eastern Conference Finals series.
Seriously, that was a surprise, a big surprise.
There are a lot of people out there claiming they knew Orlando would win, but I think most of them had made the predictions to sound smart, just in case. If you called Orlando, and they lost, you probably wouldn’t get razzed too bad. So you can just call it and then if it happens, it made you look “smart.”
I was surprised, that season series told a story, but I guess I went with the 0ther 88 games the Cavs played during the 2008-09 NBA season as my barometer. I was wrong, and I’m assuming most of you were too.
UPDATE:The WWE will be taking Monday RAW to the Staples Center in LA.
###
Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals is scheduled for Monday, May 25 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
That’s not the only event scheduled at the arena at that day and time slot.
The WWE also has a live telecast of Monday Night RAW scheduled at the arena, which was scheduled Aug. 15.
“Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25 date for a potential playoff game,” said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
McMahon is a steroid-pumped 63 year-old monster. I understand his frustration, but he’s acting in typical McMahon fashion, by trying to make the other side look bad. Not only is he insulting Kroenke, but his attempt to get Nuggets’ fans to turn on him is just sad.
The WWE has only sold 10,000 tickets so far, which the Nuggets will sellout the game, so it makes more sense to have the basketball game at the arena. Let’s face it, wrestling is not nearly as popular as it once was, blame McMahon for monopolizing it.
There is still no solution yet, but I assume the WWE is going to lose this battle.
Check out Vince McMahon’s arrogant interview with ESPN.
The Los Angeles Lakers finally put the Houston Rockets away yesterday, even though it took a season ending injury to Yao Ming and seven games. The Rockets pushed the Lakers, up until Game 7, when the Lakers came out and completely routed the smaller and less talented Houston team.
When the Lakers had to win the decisive game, they did, and they did in a dominating fashion, but they will not be able to play like that against the Denver Nuggets.

Mark Cuban was not in Denver to watch his team get eliminated by the Nuggets tonight. Denver thought it would be amusing to put a cardboard cutout of the Mavs’ owner in the empty stands and take a picture of it. It’s kind of funny, but I wish I understood more of why they did this?

Ron Artest saw someone break a table leg, throw it at at someone and stab that person in the heart. He saw that person die on the court, over a basketball game!
I don’t know how legit that story is, but maybe I should take Artest’s word for it.
Artest should not have been thrown out of the game on Wednesday. Artest is trying to show people that he’s grown up, and he’s desperately trying to help take the Rockets to places they haven’t been in years.
Artest brings up a lot of good points in this interview, like his suspension in the first round of the 2006 NBA playoffs, which may have cost Sacramento an upset series victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Tonight’s game should be fantastic. Let these guys play basketball, and if Kobe is throwing elbows, don’t give Artest the foul.
Stu Jackson has suspended Kobe before, you know he’ll be watching him closely tonight.
