LeBron James is far too much of a d-bag to do the NBA’s Slam Dunk contest, after making a stink about it last year (more on that later). Dwight Howard is a former dunk champion, but without LeBron’s 2010 competition, Howard took his name out of the contest.
The two were able to give fans a dunk contest during the Super Bowl however, in the name of McDonald’s.
Taco Bell’s NBA $5 Buck Box is a great deal — especially if you’re trying to lose weight. You get a burrito, a couple of tacos and a pop (I won’t say soda) for — you guessed it — five bucks! I prefer the Volcano Box version of the deal myself, but I also need to stay away from the Taco Bell. Charles Barkley, on the other hand, does not.
Here’s Barkley looking bigger than ever in his Super Bowl ad, which also features Lamar Odom — so at least both men of the Kardashian girls got some Sunday limelight.
It may have taken a hamstring injury from Brandon Roy, but Chris Kaman is going to represent the Los Angeles Clippers in Dallas for this weekend’s All-Star game. The Clippers big man was selected by David Stern as a replacement for the injured Roy. Kaman is having a career-season for the 21-29 Clippers, averaging 20 points and nine rebounds a game.
Many people felt Kaman, who wasn’t even listed on the All-Star ballots, was one of the league’s top snubs. Chauncey Billups was also in the same company, but thanks to Chris Paul’s injury, Billups will also be joining Kaman in Dallas.
Child abuse is a very, very, very serious issue. Mark Eaton is a very, very, very serious man. So having the 7-foot-4 monster in a commercial to scare off child abusers was a great idea, even though it’s kind of funny in an awkward way.
Again, don’t think I am laughing at the issue of child abuse — I’m just laughing at Eaton, especially now since this is what he’s doing, after his retirement from blocking shots.
Here is the official, full-length “Nightmares Never Sleep” spot from Nike/Jordan Brand. The commercial features Jordan Brand’s new face, Dwayne Wade and is not your average Jordan commercial. I dig what they did with this, especially the focus on Wade wearing Jordan’s signature shoe — considering he’s one of the best players in today’s game.
If you want to pick up the kicks, they drop next Saturday during All-Star Weekend.
I don’t know what Rudy Gay was thinking, but he was obviously fairly excited or not thinking at all here. Of course, when you make a mistake against the Lakers, Kobe Bryant or one of his talented teammates will make you pay for it.
This was just three of the 44 points that Bryant scored yesterday, as he became the Lakers’ all-time leading scorer, passing Jerry West (who coincidently wore the number 44) — tribute? Maybe. Kobe did pass on the final play of the game instead of taking the shot.
Luckily for Gay, the Grizzlies still pulled out the surprising victory.
This is from awhile back, but it’s pretty damn funny. During an episode of Inside The NBA, Chris Webber decided to give Charles Barkley the Geroge Bush treatment, and chuck (pardon the pun) his shoes at Barkley.
Barkley was very Matrix-esque though, dodging the shoes with his grace.
The most notable snubs are Chauncey Billups and David Lee, but I also am a firm believer that Stephen Jackson should be joining his Bobcats’ teammate Wallace in Dallas. Horford making the team was a bit of a surprise to me, but he is putting up very solid numbers on one of the best team’s in the East, along with playing superb defense — I can’t rain on anyone’s parade — except for Allen Iverson and Kevin Garnett.
