The founder of Zilch Technology Limited Serge Belamant was born in 1953 in France. At the age of fourteen, he moved to South Africa with his parents and siblings. Belamant is a famous entrepreneur with a mission to change the livelihoods of many in different ways. He has interest in Athletics, Rugby, and Chess.
Back in France, Serge Belamant never learned to speak in English. Therefore, he joined Highlands North High School in South Africa where he learned the English Language. After high school graduation, Belamant joined Witwatersrand University in 1972 and became the head prefect in the same year. He started as an Engineering student.
After studying Engineering for one year, Belamant decided to do an inter-faculty transfer, where he resolved to take a course in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. He studied the course for two years, where he was a member of the bridge and science club. Belamant deferred his computer science studies, and through UNISA, he got a chance to study information systems.
Though Belamant had a pass in several subjects, he wanted to gain extra knowledge in his area of study and therefore had to repeat the units. Apart from excelling in academics, Serge Belamant was exceptional in sports activities too.
Serge Belamant has worked with various firms as the founder, co-founder, chairman and CEO. Immediately after school, he got a job with Matrix, which is a vast engineering corporation. In this public company, Belamant worked with different software using IBM computers.
In addition to establishing applications to foresee future droughts, Belamant was chosen as the head of the computer department of Pretoria, Witwatersrand and Vereeniging road development project by the centre for scientific and industrial research.
Belamant has also worked in various companies like Control Data, DATABANK, Bancorp, SASWITCH and many others as the head of different departments.
After being successful in various operating and programming activities, in 1980, Serge Belamant got a reward as the analyst of the year. Besides, he was successful in all the projects he was assigned to in different firms, and always developed new ideas.
Belamant earned himself membership in the RSA computer society after succeeding in establishing steps to test business risks and sustainability. Belamant’s significant achievement was in 1989 when he created blockchain technology. According to research, by 2030, financial institutions will save about 27 billion dollars each year if they start to use blockchain. Belamant has been the chairman of Zilch Technology for seven months now.
