Justice for all – the fight for human rights

Working for the betterment of the lives of others is a calling to serve and it can only be done by those who are especially committed to the same and work without the fear of those they fight against and they who seek to oppress others.

Violations of human rights can happen in some of the most brutal ways or it can be done in a very subtle way where those that may be incurring the injustice may never realize that they are begin oppressed and think it’s just a way of life and should learn to live with it. The people and groups that fight for human and civil rights have always increased in number and today the world is definitely a better place because of this and it has led to a scenario where the action of those in power are better and more scrutinized and at every turn there is someone willing to speak out about an injustice taking place in the country or elsewhere across the globe.

We look at some of this groups and organizations that take this responsibility upon themselves.

Amnesty International

This is a Nobel peace prize winning organization that has been recognized across the globe for their actions in the fight for human rights and the role they have played in trying to get a better and more just society their efforts have not been in vain as they have been able to achieve the freedom of over a hundred and fifty people across the globe and ensured that they were well settled in after there encounters. Today amnesty international has a presence virtually all over the world and has been called upon in various instances to raise awareness whenever there are injustices taking place.

The Frontera fund

Started in Arizona the Frontera fund was started as a way of fighting for the rights of the Hispanic community which had been facing a systemic harassing and violation of their rights to alarming levels.

The tendency by Sheriff Joe Arpaio had reached alarming levels as he viewed himself as above the law constantly racially profiling members of the Hispanic community detaining them and looking for reasons to deport them. Read more: Michael Lacey | Crunchbase and Jim Larkin | Crunchbase

His actions did not go unnoticed and it led to the outcry by two journalists Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who would later be arrested by the same sheriff before the county was ordered to settle with them for a sum of over 3 million dollars that would be used to start the Frontera fund.
